World's first cat cafe
In 1998, "Cat Flower Garden" (貓花園) was established in Taipei City, Taiwan, the first cat cafe.
This initiative was born out of the need to rescue stray cats and give them a new home. At the beginning, this café was not very successful, but as soon as a TV channel discovered them and made a report about them, their popularity grew exponentially.
The menu includes a variety of coffees, teas and fruit infusions, and desserts such as cat-shaped cakes and biscuits. They also sell small snacks to feed the kittens.
Japan's cat café boom
Since pets are banned in most flats in Japan, kitty cafés have become popular with young people seeking the warmth and comfort of a furry friend in a stressful city.
The first café opened in Osaka in 2004, called Neko no Jikan, and since then more than eighty locations have been opened across Japan.
It was so successful that it has attracted customers from all over the world, including Japan, where there are more than 30 cat cafes in Tokyo alone ????
It's not just cat cafés in Asia
Now this trend has spread all over Europe. Reaching Italy, Austria, England and even Spain in Madrid, Barcelona and Alicante!
