Cafès Batalla donates €2,000 to MAMAPOP for the fight against breast cancer

Cafes Batalla - Mamapop

Cafès Batalla has donated €2,000 to MAMAPOP, the amount corresponding to sales of the CAFÉ MUJER – MAMAPOP product from the 2025/26 edition.

The donation will be added to the total raised in the last edition of the competition, which, once again, will fund research lines at the IRB of Lleida.

Lleida, 9 June 2026 – The founder and artistic director of MAMAPOP, Manel Simon, received the cheque from the hands of Javier Batalla, managing director of Cafès Batalla, and of Xavi Batalla, maestro tostador de café and third-generation coffee roaster representative from Lleida, at an event held at the Cafès Batalla factory.

This donation will form part of the funds raised by MAMAPOP and will be allocated to Lleida Institute for Biomedical Research  for your breast cancer programme.

Cafès Batalla chose this product, made by a cooperative formed exclusively by women and roasted at their Lleida facilities, as the most suitable for a joint campaign with MAMAPOP, thereby contributing to the important fight against breast cancer.

For every 500g pack of Café Mujer purchased – available from the online shop or directly from the company – Cafès Batalla donated €2 to MAMAPOP. At the end of the campaign, the target of €2,000 was reached, and the full amount will be donated to Mamapop.

For Cafés Batalla, as a local company, «This collaboration is a source of pride, as it aligns with our commitment to supporting local initiatives and being able to contribute our coffee bean to such an important cause for society.

With a view to the next edition, the company is working to ensure the product can also be purchased at various points of sale in Lleida and its province.

Café Mujer of Cafés Batalla

Café Mujer is the result of a history of dedication and empowerment, as the entire leadership of its production lies exclusively with women, and it rightly recognises the contribution of these professionals to the coffee value chain. It is they who oversee the harvesting and roasting processes for the varieties Caturra y Catuai, which give rise to a structured, balanced and silky specialty coffee, with fruity and floral notes, sweet undertones and a slight acidity.

It occurs in Costa Rica, in the region of Los Santos-Tarrazú, where the world's finest coffees are grown, on an estate situated at 1,200 metres above sea level. Thanks to its altitude and climate, it has characteristics that are valued with an extraordinary a score of 85 on the SCA scale high-quality. Cafés Batalla has chosen to link this product to the breast cancer charity campaign championed by MAMAPOP.
