Cafés Batalla, official licensee of Colombian Coffee

Cafés Batalla is a company official licensee of Colombian Coffee since 1989. Thanks to this agreement, Cafés Batalla is able to use the image of Juan Valdez, logo, the Café de Colombia logo, and the seal of the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).

To be official licensee of Café de Colombia means that, every year, we are audited from the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia. Periodically, twice a year, they take random samples that are sent to an independent laboratory that certifies that the coffee is 100% of Café de Colombia.

These requirements guarantee the authenticity of the coffee 100% Café de Colombia from Cafés Batalla.

The image of Juan Valdez and the PGI label

Juan Valdez is the symbol and image of the Colombian Coffee. It was created in March 1959 by the agency Doyle Dane Bernbach (DDB). With Juan Valdez, his mule (Conchita) and the Colombian mountains in the background, the purpose of the logo is to identify and guarantee brands that truly consist of 100% Colombian Coffee approved by the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia.

In turn, the Colombian Coffee is a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI), recognised by the European Union on 27 September 2007.
